When to Get Waxed Before a Trip
Book two to three days before you leave. The first 48 hours after waxing are the no-heat, no-pool, no-workout window, so a wax the night before a beach day puts your holiday inside the exact period you should be avoiding sun, salt water and chlorine. Two to three days out also gives any redness time to settle.
The most common travel mistake is booking a wax for the evening before a flight. It feels efficient and it puts the two days that matter most in exactly the wrong place.
The 48-hour rule decides your date
After waxing, follicles stay open for a day or two. That is why the aftercare list is no hot showers, no saunas, no pools or ocean, no workouts and nothing scented on the area for the first 48 hours.
Now put a beach day inside that window and you can see the problem. Booking two to three days before departure keeps the sensitive period at home, where it belongs, and gives any redness time to settle.
Tell us your travel date when you book and we will place the appointment properly.
Count the hair length backwards
You need about a quarter of an inch of growth — roughly 6 mm, or two to three weeks after your last shave. If the trip is in five days and you shaved yesterday, the timing has already gone; it is better to shave for this holiday and start the waxing rhythm afterwards.
Travel-day friction
Long flights mean hours of sitting in whatever you are wearing. Freshly waxed skin plus tight fabric plus heat is the recipe for irritation, which is another reason not to wax the day you travel.
What to pack
A fragrance-free moisturiser and nothing scented for the area. Hold off on exfoliating until 48 to 72 hours have passed, then go gently — two to three times a week keeps follicles clear for the rest of the trip.
How long it will hold
A bikini line wax runs three to four weeks, so a well-timed appointment covers a two-week holiday comfortably.
Planning the timing.
- Two to three days out: not the night before. The first 48 hours are when follicles are open and the skin is reactive.
- Stop shaving in advance: you need about 6 mm of hair, which is two to three weeks after a shave — plan that back from the trip.
- Skip the flight-day appointment: sitting for hours in tight clothes straight after a wax is how friction irritation starts.
- Pack the aftercare: fragrance-free moisturiser, and start gentle exfoliation only after 48–72 hours.

Can I swim the same day?
No. Pools, the ocean and hot tubs are out for the first 48 hours — open follicles and chlorine or salt water is the combination that causes irritation.
What about the sun?
Keep the freshly waxed area out of direct sun for the first couple of days. Sunburn on newly waxed skin is worse than either on its own.
How far ahead do I stop shaving?
Two to three weeks, so the hair reaches about a quarter of an inch. That is the part people leave too late.
I leave tomorrow and I shaved last week. What now?
There is not enough hair for a clean wax. Better to keep shaving for this trip and start the waxing schedule when you are back — we will tell you that rather than take the booking.
Will I still be smooth at the end of a two-week holiday?
Usually yes — the result runs three to four weeks, so a wax two or three days before departure covers the trip.
