Anti-Aging Facial or Microneedling?
They work on different problems. Microcurrent tones facial muscle and supports collagen with no downtime — it is the choice for lift, tone and prevention. Microneedling creates controlled micro-injury so the skin rebuilds, which is what addresses texture and scarring, and it asks for recovery time. Neither replaces the other.
These two get compared constantly because both are sold as “anti-aging”. Mechanically they have almost nothing in common, and that is the whole basis for choosing.
Microcurrent: tone without injury
Low-frequency current stimulates cellular energy and tones facial muscle while botanical peptides support collagen. Nothing is injured, so there is no downtime — just a light flush that fades within 30 to 60 minutes. Results build over a course of three to six sessions and are held with maintenance every four to six weeks.
One assessment answers this properly — and it is free on a first visit.
Microneedling: repair through controlled injury
Microneedling works the other way round: it creates controlled micro-injury so the skin’s own repair response rebuilds tissue. That is what makes it the tool for texture and scarring — and why it comes with a recovery window rather than none.
So which one
If the complaint is “my face looks tired, the jawline has softened”, that is tone, and microcurrent is the answer. If it is “the surface of my skin has changed — scarring, texture, pores”, that is a rebuilding job.
Plenty of clients do both, in sequence: a microneedling course for texture, then microcurrent maintenance to keep tone. Not on the same day, and with recovery planned between them.
Safety notes worth knowing
Microcurrent is ruled out by electronic implants, by Botox or fillers within the past two to four weeks, and by unhealed facial surgery. Microneedling has its own list, which is covered on its service page.
Prices
The anti-aging facial is from $199 for new clients and members, with $219 and $249 options. Microneedling is priced separately.
Which problem are you solving?
- Lift and tone: microcurrent. Sub-sensory, no downtime, results build over three to six sessions.
- Texture and scarring: microneedling. It works by triggering repair, so there is a recovery window.
- Downtime: microcurrent has none beyond a flush that settles in under an hour.
- Sequence, not rivalry: clients often do a microneedling course for texture, then keep tone with microcurrent maintenance.

Can I have both?
Yes, but not on the same day. They are sequenced with recovery in between, and your esthetician sets the order from what your skin needs first.
Which is better for fine lines?
Microcurrent for the lines that come from lost tone; microneedling where the skin’s texture itself has changed. The assessment is what separates the two.
Which has a longer-lasting effect?
Both are cumulative and both need maintenance. Microcurrent results are held with a session every four to six weeks.
Is microcurrent safe for sensitive skin?
It is the gentler of the two — nothing is injured and nothing peels. Electronic implants, recent injectables and unhealed facial surgery are the exclusions.
What do they cost?
The anti-aging facial starts at $199 for new clients and members. Microneedling is priced on its own page.
