Brow Lamination Aftercare: The First 24 Hours and After
For the first twenty-four hours keep the brows dry, makeup-free and away from steam and heavy sweating — the bonds inside the hair are still settling. After that the routine is a brush with a clean spoolie and a drop of brow oil to keep the hair conditioned. Oil is helpful here, not harmful: there is no adhesive to dissolve, unlike lash extensions. From day two you can wash, shower, swim and wear makeup normally. What still shortens the hold is friction — scrubbing, rubbing and sleeping face-down.
Brow lamination asks very little of you — but it asks all of it on the first day. Twenty-four hours of dry, bare brows is the difference between four weeks of hold and a shape that gives up by the weekend.
The first 24 hours
Keep the brows dry. That means no washing your face over them, no swimming, and no hot shower where the steam reaches your forehead. Keep them free of makeup, including brow pencil, gel and anything that needs removing later. And avoid heavy sweating, so the gym and the sauna wait a day.
The reason is simple: the bonds inside each hair are still settling into their new direction. Water, steam and friction in that window undo what the setting step just did.
Ask for the aftercare card at the end of the appointment — it is the same rules, on paper.
After the first day
The routine becomes almost nothing. Brush the hairs into place in the morning with a clean spoolie, and work a drop of brow oil through them to keep the hair conditioned.
Unlike lash extensions, oil is a friend here. There is no adhesive to dissolve — the concern is dryness, and a conditioning oil is exactly what keeps laminated hair soft rather than brittle.
Washing, showers and workouts
From day two, wash your face normally. Showers, pools and sweat are all fine; the hairs are set. Chlorine and salt water will not reverse the lamination, though rinsing the brows with fresh water afterwards is a courtesy to the hair.
What still shortens the run after day one is friction rather than water: scrubbing the brows with a towel, rubbing them when you are tired, sleeping with your face pressed into the pillow.
Makeup, gel and pencil
You can use all of it from day two — and most people find they stop wanting to. The point of the treatment is that the shape already holds, so brow gel becomes redundant and pencil is for depth rather than for taming anything.
If you do use product, remove it gently. Dragging a cotton pad back and forth across the brow is the one habit that visibly shortens a lamination.
If a few hairs misbehave
A hair or two standing up a week in is normal: those are new hairs that were not there on the day. Brush them down, put a touch of oil through, and leave them alone. Pulling or trimming them is how a tidy brow turns into a gap.
If a whole section has reverted within days, that is worth a message to us — it usually points at the first twenty-four hours rather than at the formula, and it is useful to know before the next appointment.
When to come back
Four to six weeks, when the effect has faded. Earlier is not better: hair that has not recovered does not respond well to another round of chemistry, and we would rather reschedule than process twice in a month.
If you add tint, it fades on a similar timeline, so the two naturally come due together.
The whole aftercare, honestly.
- First 24 hours: dry, no makeup, no steam, no heavy sweat. This is the only strict part.
- Daily after that: brush into place with a clean spoolie, add a drop of brow oil. That is the routine.
- Oil is fine: no adhesive is involved, so conditioning oil keeps laminated hair soft instead of brittle.
- Friction, not water: from day two, water is harmless. Scrubbing, rubbing and the pillow are what cost you weeks.
- Stray hairs: brush them down and leave them. Pulling or trimming a new hair is how a gap appears.

Book brow laminationLamination aftercare. Questions answered plainly.
When can I wash my face?
After the first twenty-four hours. On day one, wash around the brows rather than over them, and keep the shower cool enough that steam is not reaching your forehead.
Can I use oil on laminated brows?
Yes, and it helps. There is no glue to break down here — the risk is dry, brittle hair, so a drop of brow oil from day two is part of the routine.
Can I wear brow pencil or gel?
From day two, yes. Most people find they no longer need gel, since the shape holds by itself. Remove any product gently rather than dragging a pad across the brow.
What about the gym, pool or sauna?
Wait out the first day. After that sweating, swimming and steam are fine; rinse the brows with fresh water after a pool or the sea.
Some hairs stick up after a week. Why?
They are new hairs that grew in after the appointment, so they were never laminated. Brush them down with a little oil — do not pull or trim them.
My lamination faded in days. What happened?
In almost every case the first twenty-four hours were broken: water, steam, makeup or a workout. Tell us when you come back so we can plan around it.
