Lash lift is chemistry. The lifting lotion, the setting lotion, the nourishing step and the tint have to work together, and they are formulated as a system by whoever made them. Mixing brands because one was cheaper is how a client ends up with straight, brittle lashes.

What a lash and brow kit contains
Broadly: the perming and setting chemistry, a tint, the shields or pads that give the curl its shape in different sizes, adhesive to hold lashes to the shield, applicators and tools, and the small consumables that make the appointment tidy.
Shield sizes matter more than people expect — the same lotion on the wrong shield produces a curl that looks surprised rather than lifted. Learning which to reach for is part of the day.

Here is what happens without a kit. The course ends on Saturday. On Monday you start researching suppliers, and the good ones ship in a week. By the time the box arrives the muscle memory from model practice has faded, and the first client you charge is effectively your second-ever set.

It does not replace knowing what the products do — which is why the theory block is hair structure and perming products rather than a list of steps. Timing is adjusted to the hair in front of you, and no kit makes that decision for you.
It also does not restock itself. Plan on replacing consumables as your client list grows, and ask at consultation what a sensible reorder cadence looks like.
