Brow Lamination vs Microblading, Tint and Waxing

4–6weeks for lamination
1year for microblading

Quick answer

They are not competing options. Lamination restructures the direction of your own hairs for four to six weeks and costs $90 for members and first-time clients, $120 standard. Microblading implants pigment into the skin, starts at $700 — $447 with membership — and lasts about a year with a touch-up early on. Tint only changes colour; waxing and shaping only decide the outline. Misbehaving hairs mean lamination; a genuinely bare patch means pigment; invisible pale hairs mean tint. Most finished-looking brows are two or three of these in one appointment.

Brow Lamination vs Microblading, Tint and Waxing

These treatments get compared because they all promise better brows, but they solve different problems. Lamination changes the direction of the hair you have. Microblading puts pigment in the skin. Tint changes colour. Waxing removes what sits outside the shape. Picking right starts with naming what actually bothers you.

Brow lamination vs microblading

Lamination is a keratin treatment on the hair: nothing pierces the skin, nothing is implanted, and the effect holds four to six weeks before fading on its own. Microblading is cosmetic tattooing — a blade-shaped tool draws hair-like strokes and sets pigment into the skin, with a touch-up four to six weeks after the first session and a refresh about once a year.

The money works out differently too. Lamination is $90 for first-time clients and members, $120 standard, repeated monthly if you want it continuous. Microblading starts at $700, or $447 with a membership, and then sits quietly for a year.

Choose lamination when the hairs exist but misbehave. Choose microblading when the shape needs hair that is not there.

Brow lamination vs brow tint

Tint is colour and nothing else. It darkens the fine, pale hairs at the edges of the brow so they start reading as part of the shape, which makes a brow look denser without touching its structure.

Lamination is structure and nothing else. It will not darken a single hair.

That is why they are usually booked together: tint recruits the hairs you could not see, lamination points them where you want them. Each works alone, and together they are what most people picture when they say they want their brows done.

Brow lamination vs waxing and shaping

Waxing decides the outline by removing hair outside it; shaping is the same decision made with precision. Neither does anything about a hair inside the brow growing straight down.

So these are not alternatives, they are partners. Our Eyebrow Correction, Shape and Tint is $69 for first-time clients and members and $90 otherwise, and it runs in the same appointment as lamination. Shape sets the border, lamination fills the inside.

Brow lamination vs threading and henna

Threading is another way of removing hair, so it compares to waxing rather than to lamination — a shape method, not a structure method.

Henna is a colour method with staining on the skin as well as the hair, which gives a filled-in look for a shorter window. It belongs in the tint conversation, not the lamination one.

Which to choose, by what bothers you

Hairs point in several directions at once, or one brow sits lower than the other: lamination. Fine pale hairs that disappear in photos: tint. Stray hairs ruining a clean line: shaping. A gap or thin tail with no hair in it: pigment work. Brows that need all four: one appointment, in that order.

What we would say in the chair

Most people who arrive asking for microblading because their brows look messy do not need pigment at all — they need direction and colour, which is an hour and under a hundred dollars rather than a tattoo and a yearly commitment. The opposite also happens: lamination cannot invent hair, and we will say so rather than sell a treatment that cannot deliver.

Four treatments, four jobs.

  • Lamination: direction and structure of existing hair. Reversible, four to six weeks, $90 members and first visit.
  • Microblading: pigment in the skin for hair that is not there. From $700, $447 with membership, refreshed about yearly.
  • Tint: colour only — it recruits the pale hairs you cannot see into the shape. No effect on direction.
  • Waxing and shaping: the outline. Our Shape and Tint is $69 first visit or member, $90 standard.
  • The usual answer: lamination plus tint plus shaping in one visit. Pigment only when there is no hair to work with.

Book brow lamination

Comparing brow treatments. Questions answered plainly.

Is brow lamination the same as microblading?

No. Lamination works on the hair and washes out of the picture in four to six weeks. Microblading is cosmetic tattooing — pigment set into the skin for about a year.

Which is better for sparse brows?

It depends where the sparseness is. Scattered thin hairs respond well to lamination plus tint. An area with no hair at all needs pigment; lamination cannot invent a hair.

Can I have lamination over microblading?

Usually yes, and the two work together — the pigment gives the shape, the lamination tidies the real hairs on top of it. Tell your artist what has been done and when.

Does lamination replace my brow gel?

For most people, yes. That is the practical reason to book it: the hairs stay where they were set, so the morning routine becomes a brush.

Is tint included in lamination?

No, they are separate steps in the same appointment. Lamination is direction, tint is colour, and you can have either on its own.

Which is cheapest over a year?

Shaping and tint, then lamination at eight or nine visits. Microblading costs the most up front and the least per month — the real question is which one solves your problem, not which is cheapest.
