Can estheticians do dermaplaning in Florida?
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment performed with a blade, and whether you may perform it for pay in Florida depends on your license, not on a certificate. ANNAZUR Academy in Jacksonville trains the technique in one hands-on day.
Dermaplaning looks simple enough that plenty of people try to learn it from a video. The ones who do usually discover the hard part is not the stroke — it is knowing which skin should not be on the table at all.
It is a short course because the service is short
Dermaplaning is a focused technique, not a discipline. Three hours in person is enough to cover the theory, handle the tools properly and perform the treatment on a real person, provided those three hours are spent on practice rather than on lectures.
That is the whole design. One day, one skill, done properly.
What is actually taught
What dermaplaning is and what it is for, including its benefits and where it fits in a treatment plan. Safe and precise handling of the tools. Skin preparation for the best result and for the client’s comfort and safety. How to choose the right blade and tools for different skin types. And a question-and-answer stretch with personalised feedback from the instructor.

The blade selection part is the one that separates this from a video. Skin type changes what you should be holding, and that judgment is hard to learn without someone correcting you.
Practice on a real model
You perform the technique on a live model under expert supervision. Latex and a video cannot teach you how skin moves under a blade, how much tension to hold, or what a client’s face does when they are nervous.
Corrections happen while you work, which is the point of being in the room.
Not sure if dermaplaning fits your license or your menu? Ask — the consultation is free.
The tools are included and yours
All necessary tools and materials are provided during the training at no extra cost, and you keep them afterwards. So you finish the day with the skill and the kit at the same time, rather than finishing with a certificate and a shopping list.

Who it is for
Two groups, and they want different things from it. Experienced beauty professionals add an in-demand service to a menu they already have, which is the fastest return on a day of training there is. Newcomers start a career with a treatment that clients ask for by name.
If you are not yet licensed, be clear-eyed about sequence: what you may legally perform on a paying client in Florida depends on your license, not on any private certificate. Confirm your scope with the Florida Board of Cosmetology before you book clients. We will tell you honestly at the consultation where you stand.
The environment
Small, hands-on and conversational, with light snacks and refreshments during the session. Trainers who perform these treatments daily rather than teach from a manual.
